Six bottles of 2021 Davies Vineyards "Napa Valley" Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Davies family, proprietors of Schramsberg Vineyards and the J. Davies Estate in Napa Valley, presents its tenth vintage of Davies Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Expanding on knowledge gained through the production of the J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the Diamond Mountain estate, this bottling represents an outstanding range of sites across the Napa Valley. Each vineyard is intentionally farmed to produce low yields, resulting in vivid, concentrated flavors. The finished wine exhibits vibrant fruitful flavors, a rich texture, and firm tannic structure, allowing for enjoyment now as well as extended aging.
The Napa Valley was Californias first AVA, or American Viticultural Area, recognized by the U.S. government in 1981. Though just 30 miles long and a few miles wide, Napa Valley is one of the most geologically diverse wine regions in the world. Home to various microclimates, terrain and soils, it has a dry Mediterranean climate which is ideal for producing consistent wines from vintage to vintage. This climate provides near perfect growing conditions during the peak growing season with little rainfall, warm days, and cool nights. Throughout the growing season, the canopy is carefully managed to ensure optimal fruit development.
The 2021 growing season began with minimal rain, resulting in modest bud break in the spring with heat spikes from June through the beginning of September, ensuring small-sized and intensely-flavored berries. Harvest began at the end of September, with a more natural load on vines and grapes packed with flavor, resulting in another remarkable vintage.

The Davies family, of Schramsberg Vineyards and Davies Vineyards in the Napa Valley, is pleased to release the 2022 vintage of its Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. This wine is a blend crafted from Perry Ranch, Dutton-Hallberg, Keefer Ranch and Nobles Vineyards. The familys experience with Pinot Noir dates back to 1967, when Jack and Jamie Davies first used this elegant red varietal to make their inaugural vintage of Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs sparkling wine. Over the 57 years following that first use, Schramsbergs winemakers have built long-lasting relationships with some of the best Pinot Noir growers and vineyards in the North Coast. Developing upon this passion, history, and experience, second-generation Vintner Hugh Davies, along with Winemakers Sean Thompson, Jessica Koga and J.P. Pierce present this delicious appellation-designate Pinot Noir.
Perry Ranch, Dutton-Hallberg and Keefer Ranch are located in the Green Valley AVA of the Russian River Valley. Predominantly Goldridge soil, well drained throughout the growing season, this ground generates moderate vine vigor, ideally suited for the growth of densely concentrated Pinot Noir wine grapes. The vineyards profit from a long, cool hang time resulting in fruit with outstanding color, extraction, and balanced tannins. Nobles Vineyard, in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, produces Pinot Noir with vibrant red berry flavors and a supple, layered texture. The vineyards are on the eastern slopes of the second mountain ridge in from the Pacific Ocean, between 950 and 1,050 feet above sea level.
The 2022 growing season began with several weeks of sunny weather, leading to an earlier bud break. After a few years of drought conditions, the harvest started a few weeks earlier than normal and concluded ahead of schedule. Ripening was hastened thanks to lighter crop levels and consistently warm days in late August and early September. The smaller berries and cluster sizes led to exceptional fruit quality, resulting in wine with superb concentration and flavor.
