2019 "Badgley Family Vineyards" Brut (1 x 750 mL)

Schramsberg Vineyards is thrilled to introduce the inaugural vintage of our Badgley Family Vineyards Brut. Nestled near the Petaluma Gap on the western-facing hills of Sonoma Countys Bennett Valley, this stunning vineyard spans 17 acres, with 7 acres of Chardonnay and 10 acres of Pinot Noirall dedicated to our sparkling wine program.

The Badgley Family began developing their vineyard in 2016, and partnered with Schramsberg in 2018. Planted on volcanic loam soils and influenced by the cool, coastal fog, this site offers ideal conditions for cultivating vibrant, expressive fruit. With elevations ranging from 530 to 650 feet and a variety of slopes and aspects, the vineyard delivers incredible diversity in ripeness and flavor, resulting in a truly exceptional brut sparkling wine.

Aged en tirage for over four years, this vibrant and complex sparkling wine boasts a rich texture balanced by expressive energy on the palate. Bright and crisp in its youth, it promises to age gracefully for 20+ years, evolving into a beautifully layered wine with caramelized, nutty, and toasted nuances. Produced from the finest grapes in this exceptional growing region, were proud to showcase this rare and remarkable bottling.

The 2019 growing season had a record winter rainfall, a cool spring, and a summer growing season that was near perfect for Sonoma County wine grapes. Cooler than normal summer temperatures slowed down fruit ripening, pushing back harvest in many areas compared to recent seasons. Harvest began in our vineyards in late August. The resulting wine reflects the high-quality, densely concentrated fruit of this vintage.
