2019 "Tognetti Vineyard" Blanc de Blancs (1 x 750 mL)

This remarkable vineyard, nestled in the southernmost part of Napa Valleys Los Carneros region, has been family-owned and farmed for generations. Originally purchased by Jack Tognetti in 1964 as a prune and pear orchard, it was transformed into a vineyard in 1980 and passed down to his four children in 2022.

Since the mid-1990s, the Davies family has proudly partnered with the Tognetti family, hand-selecting grapes from their exceptional vineyard to craft our premier Chardonnay-based Tête de Cuvée: J. Schram Blancs. Throughout the growing season, their team meticulously performs leaf-pulling, hedging, and canopy management by hand, ensuring optimal airflow and sun exposure for every grape cluster. The cooler climate and nutrient-rich soils, nourished by Carneros Creek as it flows toward San Pablo Bay, create the perfect environment for cultivating exceptional Chardonnay grapes.

Aged for over four years on the yeast after its second fermentation, this wine showcases a caramelized, toasty richness that beautifully complements the vibrant fruit flavors on the palate. Were honored to spotlight the Tognetti Vineyard in this exceptional and rare bottling.

The 2019 growing season was an interesting one, starting later than previous years, due to cold tempretures and lots of winter rain. Mild heat throughout the summer with the occasional heat wave allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. 2019 produced a relatively large yielding and high-quality vintage, with balanced acidity and superb flavors.
