2012 Tognetti Vineyard (1 X 750 ML)
Jack Tognetti’s Chardonnay Vineyards are located on the north side of Bayview Avenue, in the southern end of the Napa Carneros AVA. The dark loamy soils along the Carneros Creek are just north of the San Pablo Bay watershed, providing the vines with a surplus of nutrients and water with which to grow. Intense flavors and gripping acidic structure are found in the grapes that are harvested from these vineyards. We have enjoyed working with the Tognetti family since the mid-1990’s, consistently blending lots produced from their vineyards into our top Chardonnay-based Tête de Cuvée: J. Schram.
With 42 months of contact on the yeast following the second fermentation, this wine has developed a caramelized and toasty richness that enhances the bright fruit on the palate. We are very proud to have the opportunity to highlight the Tognetti Vineyard in this rare bottling.
Tasting notes
The 2012 Tognetti expresses generous aromas of roast apples, orange, brioche, and honey, which gradually layers with fragrances of pastry creme and kumquat. A crisp entry on the palate is followed with mouthwatering length. Lush flavors coat the palate with graham cracker, pear, baked pinapple and a hint of meyer lemon.- Winemakers Sean Thompson and Hugh Davies

94 PointsThis pretty, floral wine made entirely from Chardonnay grapes from this site is both creamy and crisp. It offers impressive length, acidity and stoniness, accenting its focused green apple flavor. As it opens, it takes on a richer honey like tone that adds further complexity and deliciousness.- Wine Enthusiast Buying Guide (July 2017)
