The 2008 Hyde Vineyards and 2008 Jones Vineyards bottlings are our first sparkling wine releases that focus specifically on the vineyards of a single grower. The 2008 vintage was a spectacular year in the Carneros AVA, providing us with delicious fruit from which to produce these extraordinary wines.

Dr. Bob Jones' Vineyards are located on Bayview Avenue in the Napa side of the Carneros AVA. Dark loamy soils in the flats that lead off to San Pablo Bay provide the vines with a rich and unique environment from which to grow. Vibrant acid structure, bright flavors and complex minerality are common characteristics of the grapes that grow from these vineyards. We have worked with the Jones family since the late-1990's, consistently blending lots produced from their vineyards into our top Tête de Cuvée blends: J. Schram, Reserve and J. Schram Rosé.

The vibrant flavors and structure that come from the grapes of the Bayview Avenue area play a major role in our best wines year after year. With an extended amount of contact with the yeast lees following the second fermentation, this wine has developed a caramelized and toasty richness that enhances the brightly fruitful flavors. We are very proud to have the opportunity to highlight Jones Vineyards in this special bottling.

Tasting notes

The 2008 Brut Jones has generous tropical aromas of mango and pineapple, which are followed by hints of ginger, honey and lemon custard. The palate entices with bright flavors of white peach, pineapple and mandarin orange. Crisp on entry while rich and lingering on the palate, the wine delivers from start to finish.- Winemakers Keith Hock and Hugh Davies
