Father's Day BBQ Set (4 x 750 mL)

This is a 4-pack set consisting of one bottle each of J. Davies Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2014 and 2016 vintages, and one bottle each of J. Davies Estate "jd" Caberneet Sauvignon from the 2016 and 2017 vintages.

J. Davies Estate Cabernet Sauvignons are the creation of two generations of the Davies family, the product of an intimate knowledge of a place and of a passion to create delicious red wine.

The vineyard blocks, totaling 41 acres, are laid out in three isolated pockets ranging from approximately 550 to 1,000 feet in elevation. They include the two Schram sections, Napa Valleys first hillside vineyards, originally established in 1862 by Jacob Schram. The third piece is the adjacent McEachran parcel, which was first planted by Colin McEachran in 1878 and was purchased by Schramsberg in 1985. These are the southernmost vineyards in the Diamond Mountain District AVA. Flanked by two cool creek canyons (Nash Creek to the north and Ritchie Creek to the south) and surrounded by dense coniferous and deciduous forests, the vines here produce late-ripening, richly concentrated fruit with average yields of just two tons per acre.

Tasting notes

The 2014 J. Davies Estate Cabernet Sauvignon leads with rich aromas of dark red cherry, black plum, tobacco leaf, and white pepper. The palate is densely layered with fruitful flavors of cassis and blueberry, and supported by delicious undertones of cinnamon, clove, and coriander. The polished fine-grain tannins carry the flavors to a long finish."

"The 2016 J. Davies Estate Cabernet opens with rich aromas of red raspberry and red plum, accentuated by undertones of cocoa powder and cola spice. Supple tannins anchor the wines well-structured palate, where a concentrated entry of baked strawberry and blackberry leads to a juicy acidity and lengthy finish."

"The 2016 J. Davies Estate "jd" Cabernet opens with aromas of blueberry, red plum and black cherry are accentuated by clove, vanilla and dark chocolate. The palates bright entry of ripe red berry and cranberry is infused with a hint of white pepper and blackberry, sustained with a finish of firm balanced tannins."

"The 2017 J. Davies Estate "jd" Cabernet opens with aromas of raspberry, black plum and mountain sage are accentuated by cocoa powder, cinnamon and milk chocolate. The palateâs lush entry of cherry and plum precedes a creamy mid-palate. A juicy center of blackberry compote is infused with a hint of nutmeg, culminating with a finish of integrated tannins.
