2013 J. Davies "Jamie" Cabernet (1 x 750 ml)

The Davies family, proprietors of Schramsberg and Davies Vineyards in Napa Valley, presents its second vintage of J. Davies "Jamie", an estate Cabernet Sauvignon crafted from the top 11 barrels made from select vineyard blocks located in the historic Diamond Mountain vineyards that date back to 1862. Bearing her signature, this wine is named in honor of Schramsberg’s matriarch, the late Jamie Davies. Along with her husband Jack, she revived the Schramsberg property in 1965 and established the preeminent American sparkling wine house, Schramsberg, as it is today. This wine represents the family’s ongoing stewardship of this Diamond Mountain property and a passion to craft extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Son Hugh, wife Monique and a second generation of the Davies family is proud to release the J. Davies "Jamie" Cabernet Sauvignon, representing the pinnacle of an endeavor that spans over 50 years.

Tasting notes

The 2013 'Jamie' holds perfumed aromas of black cherry, blackberry, cinnamon, vanilla and dried orange zest. The palate is well-structured with flavors of black plum and dark chocolate mingled with that of freshly ground coffee. This rich palate is seamless with a broad entry, refreshing acid, and a fruitful finish.- Winemakers Sean Thompson, Hugh Davies & Celia Welch

95 Points
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Jamie has a sensational nose of rich blackcurrants, spice box, Christmas fruitcake and earth. By far the richest and most complete and multi-dimensional of the wines, but also twice the price of everything else. This is a beauty with super-smooth tannins, big full-bodied opulence and loads of red and black fruits, flowers and spice. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.- Wine Advocate (December 2015)

....there is plenty of intensity and breadth in the plush, rich flavors, along with plenty of Diamond Mountain structure that sweeps across the palate. The 2013 finishes with striking aromatics and class, but it needs time to fully come together.- Vinous - Antonio Galloni (October 2015)

Aims big but ends elegant, with a rich, well-defined core of currant, anise, graphite, cedar and tobacco flavors. Firms throughout and is best-served by short-term cellaring. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot.- Wine Spectator (Web Only - 2017)
