2023 "Sonoma Coast" Pinot Noir (1 X 750 ML)

The Davies family, of Schramsberg Vineyards and Davies Vineyards in the Napa Valley, is pleased to release the 2023 vintage of its Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. This wine is a blend crafted from Dutton Ranch, Keefer Ranch and Nobles Vineyard. The familys experience with Pinot Noir dates back to 1967, when Jack and Jamie Davies first used this elegant red varietal to make their inaugural vintage of Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs sparkling wine. Over the 58 years following that first use, Schramsbergs winemakers have built long-lasting relationships with some of the best Pinot Noir growers and vineyards in the North Coast. Developing upon this passion, history, and experience, second-generation Vintner Hugh Davies, along with Winemakers Sean Thompson, Jessica Koga and JP Pierce, presents this delicious appellation-designate Pinot Noir.

Dutton Ranch (Hallberg and Perry Ranch) and Keefer Ranch are located in the Green Valley AVA of the Russian River Valley. Consisting predominantly of Goldridge soil, well drained throughout the growing season, this ground generates moderate vine vigor, ideally suited for the maturation of densely concentrated Pinot Noir wine grapes. The vineyards profit from a long, cool hang time resulting in fruit with outstanding color, extraction, and balanced tannins. Nobles Vineyard, in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, produces Pinot Noir with vibrant red berry flavors and a supple, layered texture. The vineyards are on the eastern slopes of the second mountain ridge in from the Pacific Ocean, between 950 and 1,050 feet above sea level.

The 2023 Sonoma Coast vintage brought bountiful yields and exceptional quality. Plentiful winter rain after years of drought led to a mild spring and milder summer. This delayed veraison and harvest, allowing for extended hang time and enhanced flavor development. Generous yields delivered outstanding fruit quality throughout the region.

Tasting notes

Our 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir opens with a rich bouquet of mixed dark berry preserves, layered with subtle hints of cedar and fig. Nuances of cola and fennel add complexity. The palate expresses blueberry and ginger spice. Citrus zest enlivens a light, delicate body, while hibiscus adds a floral lift mid-palate. The finish lingers with fine tannins.- Winemakers J.P.
