2023 "Three Amigos Estate Vineyard" Pinot (1 x 750 mL)

The Davies family of Schramsberg Vineyards and Davies Vineyards in the Napa Valley is pleased to release the fifth bottling of its Three Amigos Pinot Noir from the Carneros Napa Valley AVA. The familys experience with Pinot Noir dates back to 1967, when Jack and Jamie Davies first used this elegant red varietal to make their inaugural vintage of Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs sparkling wine. Over the 58 years following that first use, Schramsbergs winemakers have built long-lasting relationships with some of the best Pinot Noir growers in the North Coast. Developing upon this passion, history, and experience, second-generation Vintner Hugh Davies, and Winemakers Sean Thompson, Jessica Koga and JP Pierce are proud to present this delicious estate vineyard-designate Pinot Noir wine from the 2023 vintage.

The Three Amigos Vineyard, sitting a short distance from the Napa Marina, is a cool, foggy, and breezy location that Pinot Noir loves. Carneros - occasionally called Los Carneros - stretches across the southern portion of both Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Located just north of the San Pablo Bay, Carneros benefits from the bays cooling air and morning fog. Grapes from this cooler sub-appellation ripen more slowly, retaining acidity and developing complexity, and though there are now several cool-climate areas specializing in Pinot Noir, Carneros was one of the earlier-planted Pinot regions in California. The Davies family has worked with this site in sparkling wine production dating back to 2004, and purchased the vineyard in 2022, allowing for the additional focus on a Pinot Noir red wine.

The 2023 Napa Valley vintage is being hailed as one of the best in recent memory. After multiple years of drought, we finally had generous winter rainfall followed by a long, mild growing season. The cooler summer allowed for extended hang time and a much later-than-usual harvest. Higher than average yields resulted in vibrant, fresh, and elegant wines.
