2023 "NAPA VALLEY CARNEROS" PINOT NOIR (1 X 750 ML)

The Davies family, of Schramsberg Vineyards and Davies Vineyards in the Napa Valley, is pleased to release its eighth vintage of Napa Valley Carneros Pinot Noir. The familys experience with Pinot Noir dates back to 1967, when Jack and Jamie Davies first used this elegant red varietal to make their inaugural vintage of Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs sparkling wine. Over the 58 years following that first use, Schramsbergs winemakers have built long-lasting relationships with some of the best Pinot Noir growers and vineyards in the North Coast. Developing upon this passion, history, and experience, second-generation Vintner Hugh Davies, along with Winemakers Sean Thompson, Jessica Koga and JP Pierce, presents this appellation-designate Pinot Noir wine from the 2023 vintage.

This bottling is a blend from two of the most important vineyard sites within the Napa Carneros AVA: Hyde and Three Amigos. The grapes from the Carneros region are favorably influenced by the nightly cooling effect from the closely located San Pablo Bay. These cool temperatures allow the fruit to retain its acidity. The vines thrive on three feet of loamy topsoil above an impenetrable clay subsoil, tempering control over the vines nutrient and water supply.

The 2023 Napa Valley vintage is being hailed as one of the best in recent memory. After multiple years of drought, we finally had generous winter rainfall followed by a long, mild growing season. The cooler summer allowed for extended hang time and a much later-than-usual harvest. Higher than average yields resulted in vibrant, fresh, and elegant wines.
