2014 NAPA VALLEY CARNEROS PINOT NOIR (1 X 7
The Vineyards
Hudson Vineyards are planted on the rolling hills at the north end of the Napa-Carneros Distirct. Moderate tempertures and slow cloud burn off allow for longer hang time of the grapes on the vines which develop complex flavors and layers. With well draining alluvial and loamy soils dominating the vineyards, the vines are able to glean the nessesary nutrients and moisture needed to produce balanced and flavorful wines.
Hyde Vineyards are planted in the foothills just north of the Carneros Bayview District. The grapes are favorably influenced by the nightly cooling effect from the closely located San Pablo Bay, retaining the wine’s balanced acidity. The vines on the property thrive on three feet of loamy topsoil above an impenetrable clay subsoil. This combination provides control over the nutrients and water supply for the vines.
Tasting notes
Inviting aromas of ripe cherry, vanilla, and baking spice gently rise from the glass. The palate is juicy and full, supported by a gentle but lingering acidity. Vibrant flavors of dark plum, black raspberry, and hints of mocha lead to a supple, coating finish.- Winemakers Sean Thompson and Hugh Davies
Reviews
92 PointsThe producer ferrets out some of the best from the appellation, combining 75% of the grapes for this wine from Hudson Vineyards and the remainder from Hyde Vineyards. An inaugural release, it's a showcase of stemmy earth and rose petals set against an ethereal backdrop. Baked rhubarb adds further flavor, seasoned in clove.- Wine Enthusiast (February 1, 2017)
