2021 Davies "Napa Valley" Cabernet (1 X 750ML)
The Napa Valley was Californias first AVA, or American Viticultural Area, recognized by the U.S. government in 1981. Though just 30 miles long and a few miles wide, Napa Valley is one of the most geologically diverse wine regions in the world. Home to various microclimates, terrain and soils, it has a dry Mediterranean climate which is ideal for producing consistent wines from vintage to vintage. This climate provides near perfect fruit development conditions during the peak growing season with little rainfall, warm days, and cool nights.
Following a second consecutive dry winter, springs bud break and flowering activity occurred two weeks earlier than normal. Vines would ultimately carry a light crop in 2021; summer heat spikes nudged the small-sized berries and clusters to even ripeness. Our Cabernet Sauvignon harvest began at the end of mid-September and carried into mid-October, delivering fruit with bright and balanced concentration.

Tasting notes
Our 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has rich aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, with notes of cocoa powder, coffee, barrel spice, sage, and light herbal notes. A broad and juicy entry of raspberry welcomes the palate, along with black pepper and tobacco. The layered flavors in this wine are supported by well-structured and fine-grained tannins with a dynamic finish.- Winemakers Sean Thompson, Jessica Koga and Hugh Davies
Reviews
93 PointsThe 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is packed with blue/black fruit, chocolate, spice and licorice. There's gorgeous depth, texture and complexity here. Readers will find plenty to like in this exuberant, dense Cabernet Sauvignon. The Napa Valley bottling is essentially a blend of all the vineyards Davies works with, except for the estate.- Vinous, May 2024
