The Davies family, proprietors of Schramsberg Vineyards and Davies Vineyards in Napa Valley, presents its third bottling of the Renteria 360 Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Oakville District. Building upon its experience with its home property on Diamond Mountain in the valleys western Mayacamas Range, this bottling represents the Davies teams effort with Cabernet Sauvignon from the valleys Oakville appellation. Second-generation Vintner Hugh Davies, Director of Winemaking Sean Thompson and Consultant Celia Welch have collaborated well together since 2008 in crafting Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons, and they are very proud to present this unique vineyard-designate bottling from the 2019 vintage

The Oakville AVA extends over an expanse of well-drained gravel soil between the Vaca and Mayacamas Mountains. The soils found here are the result of sedimentary deposits from the hills that form Napa Valley. What makes Oakvilles climate distinctive is its transitional, mid-valley location. Oakville is just far enough south to receive regular morning fog from the San Francisco and San Pablo bays, which slows the warming early in the day. But after the fog blows off by mid-morning, Oakville receives the full benefit of the Napa Valley sun. When afternoon temperatures begin to peak, the bay blows cool breezes north to begin this cooling cycle again.

The Renteria family has been farming in the Napa Valley since 1962. The Renteria 360 Vineyard is located on the north end of Oakville, at the border of Rutherford, just off the Silverado trail. The nearly 60-acre vineyard was planted in 2012 and is comprised of multiple blocks with different clone and rootstock combinations. This wine is crafted from three distinct blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted to clones 4, 15, and 169 - combined they create a wine rich in depth, color, and flavor.

The 2019 growing season started off with lots of winter rain and cold temperatures. Mild conditions continued throughout the summer with an occasional heat wave allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. The 2019 vintage delivered high quality with relatively large yields, balanced acidity and superb flavors.

Reviews

95 Points - Best of Year/Cellar Selection
Velvety tannins weave in and out of vivid dark-plum and black-currant flavors in this full-bodied, fruit-centered wine. Attractive, light oak accents of cedar, wood char and anise add complexity, and the wines concentration lets the pure fruit notes build on the palate and linger on the finish.- Wine Enthusiast, November 2022
94 Points
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Renteria 360 Vineyard is sourced from a site on the Oakville border with Rutherford. Dark cherry, plum, spice, menthol, pine and cedar fill out the layers beautifully. This creamy, resonant Cabernet captures all the charm of Oakville in its racy, up-front personality.- Vinous, January 2022
93 Points
Coming from Oakville and aged 23 months in two-thirds new barrels, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Renteria 360 sports a dense ruby/plum color as well as a great bouquet of red and black fruits, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and underbrush. This forward, medium to full-bodied, plump, and utterly delicious Napa Cabernet is ideal for drinking over the coming 10-12 years.- Jeb Dunnuck, March 2022
