2017 Davies Renteria 360 Cabernet Sauvignon (1 X 750)
The Oakville AVA extends over an expanse of well-drained gravel soil between the Vaca and Mayacamas Mountains. The soils found in this AVA is the result of sedimentary deposits from the hills that form Napa Valley. What makes Oakvilles climate distinctive is its transitional, mid-valley location. Oakville is just far enough south to receive regular morning fog from the San Francisco and San Pablo bays, which slows the warming early in the day. But after the fog blows off by mid-morning, Oakville receives the full benefit of the Napa Valley sun. When afternoon temperatures begin to peak, the bay blows cool breezes north to begin this cooling cycle again.
The Renteria family has been farming in the Napa Valley since 1962. The Renteria 360 Vineyard is located on the north end of Oakville, at the border of Rutherford, just off the Silverado trail. The nearly 60-acre vineyard was planted in 2012 and is comprised of multiple blocks with different clone and rootstock combinations. This wine is crafted from three distinct blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon clones 4, 15, and 169 - combined they create a wine rich in depth, color, and flavor.
For the 2017 vintage, abundant winter rains prior to the growing season helped recharge reservoirs and groundwater. Spring weather was cool to mild, with increased vine vigor and extended flowering in some areas. Over Labor Day weekend, high temperatures kicked harvest into high gear until mid-September, when cooler weather arrived giving red varieties extra hang time.

Reviews
95 Points - Best of Year 2020Layered in black olive, currant and red and black cherry, this wine is effusively perfumed, herbal and balanced, with a tremendous amount of underling power. Toasted oak and clove dust the fruit and provide a mineral component that contrasts well, accentuating its overall structure.- Wine Enthusiast (November 2020)

From the northern edge of Oakville, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Renteria 360 Vineyard (100% varietal) sports a deep purple/black color as well as a complex bouquet of black fruits, mint, hot gravel, and leafy herb-like aromas and flavors. It's round, opulent, and sweetly fruited, and has loads of character. It should evolve nicely for 10-15 years.- Jeb Dunnuck (January 2020)
