2014 Davies Napa Valley Cabernet Sauv. - Library (1 x 750 ml)
Five vineyards sites from across Napa Valley have been artfully blended to construct an assembly of layered qualities in this wine. Two vineyards from the lush, alluvial soils on the valley floor in Yountville and Rutherford, contribute a core of deep flavors and firm tannins. Next, moving just off the valley floor, at the foot of Mount St. Helena in Calistoga, is a site with delicious fruit that springs from white soils, yielding softer and brighter fruitful nuances. Finally, two rugged mountain hillside sites, where the soils are volcanic and sedimentary, are brought in. These sites, from Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain, cultivate low-yielding vines that produce ripe red fruit for balance and structure.
The 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet opens with vibrant aromas of mixed berry and is accentuated by clove and Mexican chocolate. The bright entry of raspberry and cherry crisp flavors on the palate emphasizes the aromas and are supported by a youthful finish.- Winemakers Sean Thompson, Hugh Davies and Celia Welch
This blends vineyards from across the valley, successfully capturing a compact and full-bodied explosion of black cherry and chocolate that benefits from bright, balanced acidity. Though offering depth and concentration, it finds a focused freshness that adds length and breadth.- Wine Enthusiast (September 2017)
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is soft, open-knit and quite accessible. Dark cherry and plum fruit, along with hints of leather and savory herbs flesh in this pliant, beautifully crafted Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Oakville and Rutherford.- Vinous (December 2016)
